GEORGE TOWN, Oct 7 (Bernama) -- The Penang Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry (KPDN) has received 21 complaints over RON95 petrol quality following social media claims that vehicles developed problems after refuelling at certain petrol stations.
Its director S. Jegan said all the complaints had been acted upon, with investigations underway to determine the cause of the reported problems.
“KPDN officers have inspected the petrol stations involved and the vehicles belonging to the complainants.
“Fuel samples from both parties have also been taken and sent to the Chemistry Department for analysis to determine whether the petrol contains water, diesel or other substances,” he told Bernama when contacted today.
He said KPDN was awaiting the analysis results and would take appropriate action based on the findings.
Last Sunday, Penang KPDN said its initial inspection found no signs of water in the RON95 storage tank at a petrol station in Batu Kawan, following claims that went viral on social media.
The issue surfaced after several individuals claimed their vehicles had developed problems, including failing to start, after refuelling at several petrol stations in Penang.
