SINTOK, Oct 6 (Bernama) -- Deputy Works Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Maslan has been named the recipient of Universiti Utara Malaysia’s (UUM) Maulidur Rasul Exemplary Figure Award here today.

UUM, in a statement, said Deputy Inspector-General of Police Datuk Seri Abdul Aziz Abdul Majid, a Bachelor of Economics alumnus, also received the award following his appointment as Deputy IGP.

According to the statement, the accolades were presented in conjunction with the Maulidur Rasul 1448H/2026 celebration and UUM Monthly Assembly at Dewan Mu'adzam Shah today.

Meanwhile, Ahmad described the award as a significant honour and the first of its kind he has received in his 60 years.

The UUM alumnus, who earned his Doctorate in Communication in 2025, said the award is a responsibility to continue contributing to the development of the ummah (community) through knowledge, skills, education, and dakwah (outreach).

Meanwhile, UUM Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Ahmad Martadha Mohamed said the achievements of alumni are not only a source of pride for the university, but also reflect the effectiveness of the education and human development imparted during their studies.

He said recognising alumni through the Maulidur Rasul Exemplary Figure Award is a manifestation of the university's appreciation for their service to society and the nation.

“When our alumni occupy top positions, whether in politics, government, the private sector, or business, it shows the university has done something right to enable them to achieve outstanding career success,” he said.

Martadha added that Ahmad and Abdul Aziz serve as inspirations to the university community, especially students, to use their career journeys as a guide and benchmark.
