KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 6 (Bernama) -- A total of 21 areas recorded Air Pollutant Index (API) readings at an unhealthy level as of 8 am today, with Batu Pahat, Johor, recording the highest reading at 188.
According to data from the Malaysian Air Pollutant Index Management System (APIMS) portal, other areas in Johor recording unhealthy readings were Kluang (169), Segamat and Larkin (both at 166), Pasir Gudang (165), Tangkak (164), Kota Tinggi (155), and Pengerang (154).
In Negeri Sembilan, Nilai recorded an API reading of 161 and Seremban 157, while Melaka City and Bukit Rambai in Melaka recorded readings of 155 and 115, respectively.
Meanwhile, Balok Baru and Indera Mahkota in Kuantan, Pahang, recorded readings of 153 and 142 respectively, while Rompin recorded 152 and Jerantut 102.
Putrajaya recorded an API reading of 152; Cheras and Batu Muda in Kuala Lumpur recorded 140 and 120, respectively; and Kemaman and Paka in Terengganu recorded readings of 134 and 111, respectively.
Additionally, 48 areas nationwide recorded API readings at a moderate level, while five areas recorded good air quality.
API readings of 0 to 50 indicate good air quality, 51 to 100 moderate, 101 to 200 unhealthy, 201 to 300 very unhealthy, and readings exceeding 300 are hazardous.
