Issues On Myanmar Nationals, School Student Safety Among Highlights In Dewan Rakyat Today

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 6 (Bernama) -- The presence of Myanmar nationals in Malaysia and student safety in schools are expected to be among the issues raised at today's Dewan Rakyat sitting.

According to the Order Paper on the Parliament portal, during the Minister's Question Time, Suhaizan Kaiat (PH-Pulai) will ask the Prime Minister to outline the government's steps to address the long-standing presence of Myanmar nationals, including refugees and asylum seekers, which has raised public concern.

Datuk Seri Saifuddin Abdullah (PN-Indera Mahkota) will ask the Prime Minister why incidents threatening student safety continue in schools despite government safety guidelines and procedures being in place.

During the Question and Answer session, Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan (PN-Kota Bharu) will ask the Home Minister for the latest status on implementing 17 recommendations to strengthen security controls, screening, and risk management at Kuala Lumpur International Airport and other international gateways in the country.

The cross-border haze issue is also among the matters likely to be raised in the lower house of Parliament, with Datuk Yusuf Abd Wahab (GPS-Tanjong Manis) scheduled to ask the Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability Minister about steps taken to address the problem, particularly in Sarawak.

He will also seek information on diplomatic or legal actions the ministry has taken to address the ongoing haze issue.

Following the Question and Answer session, the sitting will proceed with the first reading of the Supply Bill 2027 by the Finance Minister and the second reading of the Sports Development (Amendment) Bill 2026 by the Youth and Sports Minister.

The Third Meeting of the Fifth Session of the 15th Parliament for the Dewan Rakyat is scheduled to sit for 37 days until Dec 8.
