KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 4 (Bernama) -- The Malaysian Consultative Council of Islamic Organisation (MAPIM) has launched the Gaza Winter Humanitarian Aid Campaign 2026, targeting RM5 million in donations to support Palestinians ahead of the winter season.

MAPIM president Mohd Azmi Abdul Hamid said the campaign was launched as the situation in Gaza was expected to become more challenging with the approaching winter, which will also coincide with Ramadan.

“We aim to raise at least RM5 million over five months until April or May next year. The fund will cover basic necessities such as food, warm clothing, medicines, tents and clean water supplies,” he told reporters after launching the Gaza Winter Humanitarian Aid Campaign 2026 here today.

He said the first phase of aid distribution is expected to begin at the end of October, followed by another delivery in mid-November, with assistance continuing until April 2027.

To ensure aid reaches those in need without disruption, MAPIM is adopting several approaches, including channelling funds directly through legitimate local partners in Gaza, supporting local NGO projects, collaborating with international agencies, and using physical delivery routes.

Meanwhile, actor and ST Rosyam Mart branch operator Datuk Rosyam Nor, whose real name is Mohamed Noor Shamsuddin, expressed his full commitment to supporting the campaign.

“On behalf of ST Rosyam Mart, we are contributing RM100,000 to the Gaza Winter Aid Campaign and MAPIM is allowed to display promotional campaign materials at all 10 ST Rosyam Mart outlets.

“I am also voluntarily supporting the campaign’s promotional efforts, and I have proposed the ‘RM10 Seorang Rakyat Malaysia’ (RM10 From Every Malaysian) initiative to be rolled out at all ST Rosyam Mart outlets and on my social media platforms,” he said.
