MACC Remand Corporate Brothers In RM10 Million Investment Probe

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 1 (Bernama) -- Two corporate figures, who are brothers, have been remanded for five days over an alleged abuse of position involving an investment of about RM10 million.

The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) obtained the remand order, effective today until Oct 5, from Magistrate Ezrene Zakariah at the Putrajaya Magistrate’s Court this morning.

According to a source, the two men, in their 40s and 50s and carrying the titles Datuk Seri and Datuk Wira, were detained at about 9 pm yesterday after giving their statements at the MACC headquarters here.

Initial investigations found that the duo were suspected of acting in collusion in the alleged offence in late 2020.

“They are also believed to have colluded with an officer of an education-based foundation to approve an investment of about RM10 million in an investment company owned by the elder brother,” the source told Bernama.

The MACC also seized 15 luxury cars, 12 high-powered motorcycles, five luxury watches, three bracelets and about RM30,000 in cash.

MACC chief commissioner Datuk Seri Abd Halim Aman confirmed the matter when contacted and said the case was being investigated under Section 23 of the MACC Act 2009.
