Toshiba Expands Low-Power Digital Isolator Lineup
Toshiba: DCL32xx00 Series of dual-channel standard digital isolators for industrial equipment.

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 1 (Bernama) -- Toshiba Electronic Devices & Storage Corporation (Toshiba) has launched four dual-channel standard digital isolators for industrial equipment, expanding its low-power "DCL32xx00 Series" with products designed to support reliable communications in compact systems.

The new "DCL320C00", "DCL320D00", "DCL321C00" and "DCL321D00" products achieve typical current consumption of 0.2 milliamperes (mA) per channel at 1 megabit per second (Mbps), while supporting data transmission speeds of up to 25 Mbps. Volume shipments have started.

According to Toshiba in a statement, the DCL320C00 and DCL320D00 feature two forward channels for unidirectional digital signal transmission, while the DCL321C00 and DCL321D00 combine one forward and one reverse channel for bidirectional communications.

Designed for I/O interface applications, the series supports communications such as Inter-Integrated Circuit (I2C) and Universal Asynchronous Receiver-Transmitter (UART), enabling product selection according to application requirements.

The new products add to Toshiba’s existing DCL34xx0B Series of quad-channel digital isolators, bringing its low-power standard digital isolator lineup for industrial equipment to 10 products and expanding channel-count options for greater design flexibility.

Digital isolators are used in industrial equipment such as programmable logic controllers (PLCs), actuators and inverters to prevent noise-related failures, abnormal signal propagation and malfunctions between circuits operating at different voltage potentials.

Toshiba said all four products use its proprietary magnetic coupling isolation transmission technology and incorporate a new circuit technology to deliver the low-power performance required for industrial applications.

The devices are rated for a minimum isolation voltage of 3000 Vrms and operate across a temperature range of -40 to 125 degrees Celsius and a supply voltage range of 2.25 to 5.5 volts. Their industry-standard SOIC8-N package also supports more compact equipment designs.

Toshiba said it will continue expanding its digital isolator portfolio for industrial and automotive equipment, including broader channel-count and package options, to support stable communications and control systems while contributing to lower power consumption and carbon-neutrality efforts.
