WASHINGTON, Sept 30 (Bernama-Anadolu) -- US President Donald Trump shared a copy of an accord on his Truth Social platform on artificial intelligence (AI) safety that he said was signed with several of the technology industry's leading executives, Anadolu Ajansi reported.
The accord outlined a joint commitment to strengthen safeguards around the development and deployment of advanced AI systems
The White House Accord on "Super Intelligence," described as a “Joint Commitment on Frontier Responsibilities,” calls on companies developing and deploying frontier models to establish robust internal processes and controls designed to ensure their systems operate as intended and that potential problems are identified and addressed quickly.
According to the accord, each participating company should implement four layers of controls and audits covering model development and deployment.
The first layer calls for companies to establish internal controls to monitor model capabilities and alignment, including potential risks involving cybersecurity, biosecurity and chemical threats.
The controls would also be designed to prevent models from hacking or accessing technical systems in unintended ways.
The second layer would involve an internal team responsible for verifying that controls, monitoring and detection systems are working properly and ensuring identified problems are addressed.
Under the third layer, companies would also work with independent external auditors or evaluators to assess whether their controls and monitoring systems are operating as intended.
The fourth layer would establish an independent board committee to oversee the process, receive reports from internal teams and outside evaluators, and ensure that identified issues are resolved.
According to the accord, the measures are intended to give companies, customers and the public greater confidence that advanced AI systems are operating as intended.
Under the agreement, participating companies will meet regularly to establish standards and best practices aimed at improving the safety of their systems.
The document also leaves open the possibility of government regulation in the future, saying the measures could eventually be incorporated into laws or regulations.
Regardless of whether such requirements become mandatory, the signatories state that implementing the controls and audits is critical to developing the technology safely and commit their companies to adopting the framework.
The agreement lists Trump and executives from several of the world's largest technology companies as signatories.
Those named are Google chief executive officer (CEO) Sundar Pichai, Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg, OpenAI co-founder Greg Brockman, XAI CEO Elon Musk and Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang.
