KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 20 (Bernama) -- Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim today recalled the long journey of the reformasi struggle alongside early pioneers and longtime comrades who endured various trials and sacrifices since the movement's inception.

In a Facebook post, Anwar said he and his wife, Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, have never forgotten the contributions and sacrifices of those who fought alongside them for the agenda of change.

“How could Azizah and I ever forget the contributions and sacrifices of each and every one of them, because without your strength, courage and fighting spirit, I would not be standing here today bearing the responsibility as Prime Minister,” he said.

Earlier today, Anwar attended the Perintis Reformis Reunion Hi-Tea event at the Selangor International Trade Centre (SITC).

Anwar, however, stressed that the struggle for change was far from over and that the existing spirit must continue to be nurtured.

The Prime Minister also called on reformists to regroup and pass on the spirit of the struggle to their children, families, friends, and future generations.

He said the struggle to bring about reform demanded unwavering courage, patience, and resilience.

“We may grow older and our pace may slow down, but our spirit must never fade. We have fallen, lost, and suffered, but we also know how to rise again. ‘Lawan tetap lawan’ (The fight goes on),” he said.
