KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 19 (Bernama) -- The Islamic turath tradition, referring to the classical scholarly heritage of Islam, must continue to be strengthened so that it remains relevant and serves as a guide for present and future generations in navigating a changing world, including developments in artificial intelligence (AI).
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said turath was not merely a legacy of knowledge, but the foundation that shapes the faith, thinking and identity of Muslims.
“In a rapidly changing world, including developments in AI, the turath tradition must continue to be strengthened so that it remains relevant and serves as a guide for present and future generations.
“It is our responsibility to ensure that this wealth of knowledge remains alive, continues to develop and contributes to the strength of the ummah,” he said in a Facebook post today.
He also uploaded a one-minute video showing highlights of the opening ceremony of the National Turath Ulama Scholarly Discussion held in conjunction with the 2026 Malaysia Islamic Turath Festival in Putrajaya today.
