KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 18 (Bernama) -- The Japan External Trade Organisation (JETRO) Kuala Lumpur will be hosting a seminar on Wagyu Secondary Cuts to enhance its adoption and contribute to the further expansion of Wagyu exports in the Malaysian market.

In a statement, JETRO said the event to be held at Wagyu by La Moon, a Japanese restaurant in Kuala Lumpur, on Sept 30 as a part of its initiatives under the Japan Food Export Platform.

“The aim is to enhance the awareness on Wagyu secondary parts and maximising the utilisation of cuts beyond the primary cuts,” according to JETRO.

Among the food and agricultural products exported from Japan to Malaysia, Wagyu beef represents the largest export category by value, with export volumes continuing to increase year after year.

“However, increasing awareness of secondary Wagyu cuts beyond the primary cuts such as loin, and expanding market channels for these cuts could be key solutions to further expand usage of Wagyu beef and maximise export revenues,” JETRO added.

This seminar will be held using Kurohana Wagyu from Kurohana Wagyu Export Promotion Consortium, which has been recognised as the "flagship export production area".

As well as the introduction of Kurohana Wagyu, participants will also gain a deeper understanding of the characteristics and proper handling of secondary cuts.

The programme will also feature a cutting demonstration by a professional chef as well as presentations on culinary applications utilising various cuts and menu adaptation.
