KUCHING, Sept 18 (Bernama) -- Police seized various types of drugs worth an estimated RM17.2 million in two separate operations in Kuching and Limbang on Sept 11 and 14, arresting two men.
Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) Management director Datuk Mohamad Zainal Abdullah, who is also the Sarawak Police Commissioner, said the operations were conducted jointly by the Bukit Aman Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department (NCID) and the Sarawak NCID.
He said in the first operation on Sept 11, police arrested a 39-year-old local man at a house in Kuching and seized 107.518 kilograms (kg) of drugs.
The seizure comprised 50.1 kg of MDMA powder, 32.3 kg of ketamine, 25 kg of liquid MDMA and 0.118 kg of Erimin 5 pills, with an estimated value of RM12.89 million.
"The syndicate is believed to have been active since July 2026 and used a terrace house to process, package and store the drugs before distributing them around Kuching.
"The suspect's initial urine screening tested positive for methamphetamine/amphetamine. He is currently remanded for seven days from Sept 12 to 19 to assist in the investigation," he said.
Mohamad Zainal said in the second operation on Sept 14, police arrested a 23-year-old man at Jalan Mendamit, Limbang and seized 84.07 kg of drugs.
"The seizure comprised 81.21 kg of syabu, 2.06 kg of ketamine and 0.80 kg of MDMA powder, with a total estimated value of RM4.3 million.
"The syndicate is believed to have been active since November 2025 and used a four-wheel-drive vehicle to transport the drug supply from Miri to Sabah by road. The suspect is remanded for seven days from Sept 15 to 22 to assist in the investigation," he said.
Both cases are being investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
