PUTRAJAYA, Sept 18 (Bernama) -- The seizure of a container suspected of carrying military cargo linked to the Israeli regime at Port of Tanjung Pelepas (PTP), Johor, demonstrates Malaysia’s firm stance against any form of collusion or logistical support for Zionist oppression, said Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs) Dr Zulkifli Hasan.
He said the ministry supports the government’s action through the Malaysian Border Control and Protection Agency (AKPS).
“This action is in line with religious obligations and the principles of Maqasid Syariah (Hifz an-Nafs) to protect lives and ensure that the nation’s sovereignty is not exploited by the illegal regime,” he said in a statement today.
He urged Malaysians to fully support the government’s unwavering stance in solidarity with Palestine.
“Any attempt to smuggle military support cargo to Israel will be opposed. May Allah SWT safeguard the struggle for the liberation of Palestine until true victory is achieved,” he said.
Previously, AKPS said in a statement that it had detained and inspected a container at PTP on Aug 7 after it was suspected of carrying goods for export to Israel.
According to the agency, the shipment was suspected of contravening Item 15 of the Second Schedule of the Customs (Prohibition of Exports) Order 2023, which prohibits the direct or indirect export of goods to Israel in line with the Malaysian government’s policy and decisions.
Following this, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim expressed his appreciation to AKPS for its swift action in seizing the container.
