KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 17 (Bernama) -- Huawei-sponsored WAIC Connect Malaysia 2026 conference brought together artificial intelligence (AI) technology providers, industry players and businesses to explore practical applications of the technology and foster collaboration across the AI ecosystem.
Held at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre from Sept 7-8, the event was supported by the Chinese Embassy in Malaysia and carried the theme “Innovating for a Green and Intelligent Malaysia.”
Linked to the World Artificial Intelligence Conference (WAIC) held recently in Shanghai, the exhibition featured leading AI companies from China alongside Malaysian and regional industry players, providing a platform for businesses to explore AI technologies, industry applications and potential partnerships.
At the exhibition, Huawei showcased its computing infrastructure, including the Atlas SuperPoD 950, alongside its AI platforms and ecosystem capabilities.
Huawei also brought together ecosystem partners across AI models, platforms and industry applications to demonstrate a full-stack AI ecosystem covering computing infrastructure, model enablement platforms, AI agent enablement platforms and business-facing AI agent applications.
A Huawei Technologies (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd spokesman said WAIC Connect Malaysia was intended to go beyond showcasing individual technologies by creating connections across the wider AI ecosystem.
“The purpose of this whole event is that it is not just about Huawei. It is really about the whole ecosystem.
“It is not only about bringing in solutions, but also about connecting industries, people and businesses,” he told Bernama.
He said the exhibition brought together companies operating across different layers of the AI ecosystem, including infrastructure, models, AI agents and industry-specific applications.
According to the spokesman, AI development is increasingly moving towards domain-specific models and specialised agents designed for particular industries and functions.
“Right now, a lot of people are using general models to do general things. But moving forward, it is going to be very domain-specific,” he said.
He also cited sectors such as finance, government and healthcare, where AI models could increasingly be developed for more specialised applications.
As part of the wider ecosystem showcased at the event, Huawei’s independent software vendor (ISV) network featured eight partners across the government, education, healthcare and financial sectors, namely Epoint, Digital Hail, AllCam, ULearning, Runda Health, TrustDecision, Farben and GuidelineX.
The partners showcased AI-enabled solutions across areas such as government services, education, healthcare, financial services and enterprise digitalisation, demonstrating how AI technologies could be applied to address specific industry needs.
The exhibition also featured eight Huawei Cloud partners, namely Minimax, Evomap, fanruan, Xenber, gentech AI, GlobeOSS, T3 Technology and Udesk.
Their solutions covered areas such as enterprise services, intelligent customer service, data analytics, payment and AI applications, highlighting the role of cloud platforms in supporting enterprises in developing and scaling AI-powered services.
Meanwhile, WAIC partners and Chinese AI companies expanding into overseas markets also participated in the exhibition, including iFLYTEK, Deepexi, IOTech Solutions, IPvise, UniGrow, Supervibe, Rongyin, Sovi.AI, Xreal, Runjian, TRANSWARP, CRADLE, Mindappz, Datasaur, HYPERNOLOGY, Kingsoft Office, CMI and DEEProbotics.
The participating companies showcased technologies spanning AI models, robotics, intelligent devices, enterprise software, data intelligence and industry-specific applications, offering Malaysian businesses a broader view of China’s developing AI ecosystem.
