PUTRAJAYA, Sept 15 (Bernama) -- The Malaysian Immigration Department (JIM) has dismantled a suspected fake e-Temporary Employment Visit Pass (e-PLKS) operation following simultaneous raids on 11 premises around the commercial area of Jalan Chan Sow Lin, in Kuala Lumpur, yesterday.
Its director-general, Datuk Zakaria Shaaban, said that 11 Bangladeshi nationals, comprising 10 men and one woman aged between 23 and 48, were detained during Ops Serkap at about 12.50 pm on suspicion of involvement in the activity.
"Initial investigations found that the premises in question are believed to offer e-PLKS services suspected to be fake for a fee of around RM150 per document, while police reports suspected to be fake were offered at a rate of around RM70 each," he said in a statement today.
Zakaria said that in the operation, the team also seized 18 laptops, 21 printers and scanners, three mobile phones, 10 Bangladeshi international passports, several suspected fake e-PLKS printouts, and police reports suspected of being forgeries.
He said the documents are believed to have been used to deceive the embassy when applying for Bangladeshi international passports.
Zakaria said further investigations are being conducted to identify the modus operandi and other parties that may be involved in the activity.
He said the operation involved 40 officers from the Enforcement Division from the JIM headquarters in Putrajaya who raided premises suspected of offering fake e-PLKS preparation services.
In the same operation, Zakaria said that inspections around the location also led to the detention of 19 foreign nationals suspected of immigration offences.
“In the inspection, a total of 19 foreign nationals were detained, consisting of 16 Bangladeshi nationals, namely 15 men and one woman, one Myanmar woman, and two Indonesian women," he said.
He also said all the detained foreigners were placed at the Putrajaya Immigration Depot under Section 51(5)(b) of the Immigration Act 1959/63 for further investigation.
Zakaria added that the case is being investigated under the Immigration Act 1959/63, the Passport Act 1966, the Immigration Regulations 1963, and other relevant legal provisions.
