KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 15 (Bernama) -- The Registry of Societies Electronic System (eROSES) 2.0 will strengthen oversight of about 200,000 registered societies and enable authorities to detect potential red flags in their governance and activities.

Registry of Societies Malaysia (JPPM) director-general Datuk Mohd Zulfikar Ahmad said the system was part of the department’s digital transformation drive, aimed at simplifying registration while improving governance monitoring and oversight.

“In terms of monitoring, we can detect red flags. For example, if a society suddenly receives a large amount of funding, we will be able to detect it,” he said when featured on Bernama TV’s Apa Khabar Malaysia programme today on the topic “eROSES 2.0: Driving the Digital Transformation of Society Management” today.

Mohd Zulfikar said eROSES 2.0 incorporates identity verification measures such as Digital ID and electronic Know Your Customer (e-KYC) to enhance security.

The system also simplifies the registration and management of societies by providing individual IDs that allow committee members to access the system directly.

Previously, IDs were issued only to the chairman and secretary, but eROSES 2.0 extends access to other committee members, allowing them to conduct checks and monitor their respective responsibilities.

This enables committee members to independently check the status of report submissions, ensure required tasks are completed and keep track of their roles and responsibilities in managing their societies.

eROSES 2.0 also incorporates artificial intelligence (AI) technology to improve service efficiency as JPPM moves towards a more efficient, user-friendly and responsive digital ecosystem.
