KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 14 (Bernama) -- The Annual Report of the Special Committee on Corruption (JKmR) will be submitted to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim before being tabled in Parliament.
In a statement today, JKmR said the report took into account the Anti-Corruption Advisory Board’s (LPPR) 2025 comments on the operations of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) under the MACC Act 2009.
The committee said the report also took into account matters discussed during a special presentation session on LPPR’s comments at the committee’s Meeting No. 3 of 2026, held earlier today.
“During the meeting, JKmR took note of LPPR’s comments on the MACC Annual Report 2025, particularly issues related to the status and implementation of enforcement, prevention and management actions by the MACC, in line with the check-and-balance mandate entrusted to JKmR,” the statement read.
At the same meeting, JKmR welcomed the MACC’s decision to suspend, with immediate effect, the use of orange garb for people under investigation (OKS) brought to court for remand applications.
According to the statement, the individuals may wear regular clothing when brought to court, while lock-up attire is required only during their detention.
JKmR also said the use of handcuffs would be determined based on the circumstances, with exemptions for frail individuals, people with disabilities and the elderly, subject to appropriate security assessments.
“This approach reflects ongoing efforts to ensure that investigations are conducted professionally, prudently and in accordance with the principles of justice, without compromising security requirements or the smooth conduct of investigations,” the statement added.
