DA NANG, Sept 7 (Bernama) -- Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP) has a Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) ecosystem that aligns learning more closely with industry needs.
The Raja Muda of Perlis, Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullail, in his capacity as UniMAP Chancellor, said the university’s TVET centre offers 54 courses, six professional certifications, nine industry laboratories and three teaching factories.
“The centre has seven certified instructors and offers training encompassing industrial training, work-based learning, micro-credentials and professional certification, as well as upskilling and reskilling programmes.
“The three teaching factories provide students and trainees with opportunities to undergo learning experiences that closely replicate real-world industrial environments,” he said.
He said this when granting an audience to the Deputy Consul (Education) of the Consulate General of Malaysia in Ho Chi Minh City, Koh Bee Ching, in conjunction with UniMAP’s International Leadership Mobility (ILM) programme here today.
Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra said the strength of the “teaching factory” concept lies in its ability to transform the campus into an industrial simulation environment.
“Students do not merely learn theory but are also given opportunities to develop practical skills and gain an understanding of actual industrial workflows.
“This approach complements UniMAP’s strengths as a technical university and helps produce graduates who are both job-ready and future-ready,” he said.
Meanwhile, Koh said UniMAP’s technical and TVET capabilities offered significant potential for expansion through international university-industry networks.
“UniMAP possesses distinct strengths as a technical university, particularly in engineering, technology and TVET, which are closely aligned with industry needs.
“These strengths offer significant potential for expansion through university-industry networks in Vietnam and the wider ASEAN region,” said the education attaché.
