KUALA LUMPUR,  Sept  2 (Bernama) -- Rapid Rail Sdn Bhd (Rapid Rail) has appointed Mazli Mustaffa as its new Chief Executive Officer, effective yesterday.

In a statement today, Rapid Rail said Mazli brings nearly 30 years of experience in the rail and engineering industries, having worked in Malaysia, Saudi Arabia and Bahrain and contributed to the implementation and development of several major rail projects.

These include KL Sentral, the Rawang-Ipoh Double Track Project, the Ipoh-Padang Besar Double Track Project, Makkah Metro, the Kajang Line, the Putrajaya Line and the Kuching Urban Transportation System (KUTS).

Prior to joining Rapid Rail, Mazli served as Chief Executive Officer of Sarawak Metro Sdn Bhd, where he led the development of Sarawak's first urban public transport system, which is also Malaysia's first fully green public transport system.

Rapid Rail said Mazli's extensive experience in rail infrastructure development, system integration and operations management is expected to add value to the company's efforts to strengthen its overall performance.

"Under this new leadership, Rapid Rail will continue to focus on strengthening operational performance, enhancing service reliability and safety, and elevating the customer experience.

"This move aligns with the company's commitment to providing efficient, safe and sustainable public transport services to meet the public's evolving mobility needs," the statement said.

Rapid Rail added that Mazli's experience and expertise in the rail sector are also expected to support Prasarana Malaysia Berhad's aspirations to increase public transport ridership and drive the development of more sustainable urban mobility.
