JOHOR BAHRU, Aug 29 (Bernama) – A total of 1,529 officers and personnel of the Johor Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) contingent will be deployed through Op Ambang Merdeka 2026 which will be implemented starting tomorrow until Sept 1 to ensure public safety and order throughout the 69th National Day celebrations in the state.
Johor police chief Datuk Ab Rahaman Arsad said the number comprises 168 senior police officers and 1,361 junior police officers who would carry out assignments in stages and in rotation at strategic locations and areas expected to be the focus of the public.
He said the operation focused on efforts to prevent crime, maintain public order and ensure smooth traffic flow, especially in areas celebrating the Merdeka eve, city centres, public hotspots, recreational areas, shopping centres and main roads.
“Johor PDRM is also paying attention to any activities that may affect public safety and order, including illegal racing, dangerous motorcycle riding, reckless driving, drug abuse, excessive alcohol consumption and traffic rule violations,” he said in a statement today.
Ab Rahaman said the public is advised to celebrate the Merdeka eve in an orderly and responsible manner and to comply with safety instructions, while road users are told to plan their journeys in advance and not drive recklessly or aggressively.
He said those attending the celebration location are also asked to take care of their own safety and that of their families, supervise their children and not bring any items or objects that could threaten safety, while stressing that the police would not compromise with any party that committed an offence or disturbed public order.
In the meantime, he called on the community to come together to express their patriotism by celebrating the 69th National Day in a peaceful, safe, orderly and harmonious atmosphere.
