SEREMBAN, Aug 22 (Bernama) -- Negeri Sembilan FC (NSFC) are demanding a walkover victory after their Super League opening match against Kuala Lumpur City FC (KL City), scheduled for this afternoon, was postponed.
The NSFC management, in a statement, said they were disappointed by the Malaysian Football League’s (MFL) last-minute decision to postpone the match.
"As the home team, all match-hosting preparations in terms of logistics, facilities, medical teams, and security were fully completed. This has a major impact because thorough preparation incurs high management costs.
"This incident is disappointing to thousands of loyal supporters of the Jang squad. Based on club projections, it affects about 5,000 fans who purchased tickets in advance and those planning to buy tickets at the stadium today," the statement read.
NSFC apologised to supporters who planned to attend the match.
It told fans that updates on ticket refunds or the status of purchased tickets would be announced through the club’s official channels.
Instead of the match, the NSFC squad will hold an open training session at the stadium this afternoon. Fans are invited as a show of appreciation for their support.
Earlier today, MFL announced that the Super League clash between NSFC and KL City, scheduled for 5 pm at the Tuanku Abdul Rahman Stadium in Paroi, could not take place after nearly half of the City Boys' squad were confirmed to have influenza.
