MELAKA, Aug 21 (Bernama) -- The Civil-Military Cooperation (CIMIC) Carnival Melaka 2026 is among the main events taking place at Dataran 1Malaysia Klebang here from Aug 29 to 31 as part of Melaka’s National Day celebrations.
Melaka Chief Minister Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh said three Royal Malaysian Navy warships would be berthed off the coast of Klebang, allowing the public to view the country’s defence assets up close.
“After the National Day celebrations were held at Dataran Pahlawan for the past two years, this year’s state-level celebrations in Melaka will take place at Dataran 1Malaysia Klebang.
“This year, visitors will not only see a much larger and longer parade along the coastal road in Klebang, but the state government is also working with the Malaysian Armed Forces to organise the CIMIC Carnival,” he told reporters after a ‘Dak Rauf Masuk Konti’ interview session at Melakafm here today.
He said the carnival would also feature a range of displays, including parachute demonstrations, fighter-jet and helicopter air displays, and special forces demonstrations.
He said the CIMIC Carnival would launch on the morning of Aug 30, followed by Merdeka Eve celebrations that night, featuring cultural activities and performances by artistes such as Ziana Zain, Amy Search and Charly Van Houten.
Ab Rauf said the state-level National Day celebrations would culminate on Aug 31 with a range of activities, including a parade of contingents, a procession of vehicles and assets, ethnic and cultural performances, field events, and a floats parade.
He added that visitors would also have the opportunity to watch a flypast and various demonstrations as part of the celebrations.
He said that the Melaka Berselawat programme would also be held on Aug 29, featuring congregational prayers, qasidah and a religious talk by special guest Habib Syech Assegaf.
Meanwhile, he said 2,000 seats would be provided in the public grandstand area, while visitors could also sit in designated areas along the parade route.
“Nearly 5,000 parking spaces will be available across 11 public parking areas for visitors to Dataran 1Malaysia Klebang.
“Shuttle bus services will be available at designated pick-up points in the parking areas, while traffic control measures and road closures will be implemented according to a set schedule during rehearsals and the celebrations to ensure the programme runs smoothly,” he said.
He advised the public to plan their journey to Dataran 1Malaysia and follow the instructions of officials and authorities in the area.
