KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 21 (Bernama) -- Relations between Vietnam and Malaysia are poised for further growth under the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership (CSP), driven by growing political trust, mutual understanding, and shared interests.
Vietnam’s Ambassador to Malaysia Dinh Ngoc Linh said Malaysia remained an important and valued partner for Vietnam in an increasingly complex and rapidly changing global environment.
He said over the past year, the bilateral relations have continued to grow across a wide range of areas, including trade and investment, agriculture, education, culture, and tourism.
“We highly value our Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, which reflects the growing political trust, mutual understanding, and shared interests between our two countries,” he said at Vietnam’s 81st National Day celebration here, on Thursday evening.
Dinh said Vietnam attached great importance to defence and security cooperation with Malaysia, which contributes to mutual trust and confidence between the two countries, as well as to peace and stability in the region.
He also highlighted the important role of parliamentary exchanges in strengthening mutual understanding and bringing the peoples of both countries closer together.
“I am confident that this friendship will continue to grow stronger, from generation to generation, and that Vietnam and Malaysia will continue to walk together towards a future of peace, prosperity, and shared success,” he said.
Deputy Foreign Minister Datuk Lukanisman Awang Sauni was guest of honour. The event was also attended by head of missions and other invited guests.
Regionally, the ambassador said Vietnam remains steadfast in working closely with Malaysia and ASEAN member states to strengthen ASEAN unity, resilience, and centrality, and to build a peaceful, stable, prosperous, and people-centred ASEAN community.
“As our region and the wider world undergo profound changes, I am confident that Vietnam and Malaysia will continue to stand together, seize opportunities together, and address challenges together,” he said.
The ambassador, who would conclude his tour of duty in Malaysia soon, expressed his gratitude for the friendship and memories he had made over the past three years.
“Although my term of office is coming to an end, my affection for Malaysia and my commitment to the friendship between Vietnam and Malaysia will certainly remain.
“Whatever position I may hold in the future, I will continue to follow with great interest the development of our bilateral relations, and I will always take pride in the friendship between our two countries,” he said.
Since establishing diplomatic relations in 1973, Vietnam and Malaysia have steadily strengthened their ties, culminating in the elevation of the relations to a CSP in November 2024.
