KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 19 (Bernama) -- The Companies Commission of Malaysia (SSM), which is organising the 15th SSM National Conference (SSMNC2026), is calling on the business community to embrace digital transformation responsibly while strengthening governance and improving efficiency through innovation.
Themed "Navigating Business in the Digital Era: Trust. Efficiency. Sustainability," the conference aligns with the aspirations of the 13th Malaysia Plan (MP13) and explores how organisations can harness digital transformation, artificial intelligence (AI), data-driven decision-making and emerging technologies.
Deputy Minister of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN), Senator Datuk Dr Fuziah Salleh, said the future of Malaysia's corporate sector depends not only on technological advancement but also on the ability to make sound decisions grounded in values, integrity and good governance.
"With the commitment and collective effort of all parties, I am confident we can strengthen Malaysia's corporate landscape to ensure it remains competitive, progressive and sustainable," she said at the conference's opening ceremony at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC) yesterday.
The two-day hybrid conference was attended by SSM Chief Executive Officer Datuk Nor Azimah Abdul Aziz, KPDN Deputy Secretary-General Datuk Roziah Abudin and SSM senior management.
The conference attracted more than 2,300 participants, including delegates from overseas.
Meanwhile, at the same event, Fuziah launched SSM's new digital platform, the Corporate Registry System (CRS), which integrates various registry services into a single, modern, efficient and user-friendly ecosystem in line with SSM's digital transformation agenda.
She said the CRS, which began operations on July 14, is being implemented in phases to ensure an orderly and effective transition from the existing system to the new platform.
"Phase 1, which covers matters related to corporate entities, fully replaces MyCoID and e-Secretary, as well as various statutory document filing services for companies that were previously handled over the counter.
"Phases 2 and 3, which will cover business entities and Limited Liability Partnerships (LLP), among others, are scheduled for implementation by the end of 2026.
"Through the CRS, various document filing processes can be carried out online via the SSM4U portal, with access available 24 hours a day, seven days a week," she said.
The SSM National Conference 2026 features 16 plenary sessions and a Company Secretary Masterclass, bringing together prominent speakers from various institutions and the corporate sector.
Among the speakers are former Chief Justice Tun Tengku Maimun Tuan Mat, Capital A Bhd chief executive officer Tan Sri Tony Fernandes and renowned fashion designer Melinda Looi.
