KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 17 (Bernama) -- 99 Speed Mart Retail Holdings Bhd's (99 Holdings) net profit for the second quarter ended June 30, 2026 (2Q 2026) rose by 13.4 per cent to RM163.95 million from RM144.63 million a year ago.
Revenue jumped by 13.6 per cent year-on-year (y-o-y) to RM3.08 billion from RM2.71 billion previously, it said in a filing with Bursa Malaysia today.
"The improvement was primarily driven by the continued expansion of the outlet network, with a net addition of 257 new outlets y-o-y, bringing the total to 3,151 outlets as of June 30, 2026 from 2,894 a year ago.
"Total sales transactions increased 13.6 per cent to 146.4 million, with an average basket size of RM21," it said in a statement.
For the cumulative 6 months (1H 2026), 99 Holdings delivered net profit of RM352.5 million compared with RM289.53 million previously, while revenue increased to RM6.14 billion from RM5.32 billion a year ago.
Furthermore, its bulk sales e-commerce platform continued to gain traction, where revenue increased 80.5 per cent y-o-y to RM50.2 million during 1H 2026.
99 Holdings founder and chief executive officer Lee Thiam Wah said the positive growth momentum in the quarter was underpinned by the continued expansion of its outlet network and the nationwide implementation of earlier opening hours.
At the same time, he said 99 Holdings’ continued focus on operational efficiency was beginning to deliver tangible benefits, with energy-saving initiatives and equipment contributing to lower utility costs and improved cost efficiency across its operations.
"As our outlet network continues to grow, we remain committed to strengthening our supply chain to support operational efficiency," he said.
Lee added that the company continue to broaden its product offerings to meet evolving customer needs, following the encouraging response to its selected home appliances range. The group has expanded their availability to all outlets nationwide and introduced them through the 99 Bulksales platform to better serve corporate and bulk purchase customers.
