CPO Futures Likely To Stay Firm Next Week On Tighter Supply Expectations

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 15 (Bernama) -- Crude palm oil (CPO) futures on Bursa Malaysia Derivatives are likely to remain supported next week as the market continues to price in expectations of tighter supply from November onwards.

Fastmarkets Palm Oil Analytics senior analyst Dr Sathia Varqa said traders are aggressively factoring the anticipated supply tightness into CPO futures prices.

“The main data to watch are the Aug 1-20 export figures and the Southern Peninsular Palm Oil Millers’ Association’s (SPPOMA) Aug 1-20 production data,” he told Bernama. 

On a Friday-to-Friday basis, the August 2026 contract increased RM1 to RM4,528 per tonne, while September 2026 declined RM30 to RM4,576 per tonne and October 2026 gained RM33 to RM4,710 per tonne.

November 2026 rose RM72 to RM4,807 per tonne, December 2026 climbed RM94 to RM4,879 per tonne, and January 2027 jumped RM107 to RM4,936 per tonne.

Weekly trading volume rose to 582,348 lots from 484,473 lots in the preceding week, while open interest surged to 327,575  contracts from 112,427 contracts previously.

The physical CPO price for August South decreased RM20 to RM4,520 per tonne.
