KABUL, Aug 14 (Xinhua) -- Afghan security forces have thwarted attempts by human traffickers and taken into custody three individuals who were attempting to smuggle 40 individuals out of the country via Nimroz province in western Afghanistan, provincial police spokesman Mawlawi Gul Mohammad Qudrat said Friday.
"Three human traffickers were attempting to illegally take 40 persons out of the country via Nimroz province, but the security personnel foiled the attempts and released the individuals," Qudrat said.
All three traffickers have been arrested and an investigation is underway, the official further said without providing more details.
