MEXICO CITY, Aug 14 (Bernama-Sputnik/RIA Novosti) -- The death toll from a 7.4-magnitude earthquake in Colombia has reached 281, with 3,971 injured and 379 missing, according to Colombia's National Unit for Disaster Risk Management (UNGRD), reported Sputnik/RIA Novosti.
"The earthquake left 281 people dead, 3,971 injured, 379 missing, and 348 were rescued," the UNGRD said in a statement on X.
It said the earthquake affected 15 departments and 426 municipalities of Colombia, 44,936 families and a total of 102,105 people.
The natural disaster damaged 65,841 homes, while another 10,677 were completely destroyed. A total of 127 multistorey buildings collapsed, while 236 medical facilities, 2,136 educational facilities and 1,168 public facilities were damaged, along with 198 road sections, 71 water supply systems, 34 highway bridges, 12 pedestrian bridges and five airports.
Earlier reports said the death toll from the powerful earthquake in Colombia reached 273.
A 7.4-magnitude earthquake struck Colombia in the morning of August 10. The epicentre was located in the Choco Department. The tremors were felt across most of Colombia and in neighbouring countries.
