JAKARTA, Aug 10 (Bernama) -- Acting Bank Indonesia (BI) governor Destry Damayanti has been nominated as the sole candidate to become the central bank’s permanent governor, with her nomination formally submitted to the House of Representatives (DPR).
State Secretary Minister Prasetyo Hadi said President Prabowo Subianto had instructed the government to submit the presidential letter containing Destry’s nomination to DPR leaders on Monday.
“Tomorrow, the DPR leadership will officially announce it to the media and the public, and we will leave the subsequent process to the House of Representatives in accordance with prevailing laws and regulations,” he told a press conference on Monday.
Destry, formerly BI’s senior deputy governor, automatically assumed the post of acting governor following Perry Warjiyo’s resignation last month.
Prasetyo said the government had also submitted candidates for senior deputy governor and deputy governor positions at the central bank.
