KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 10 (Bernama) -- Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim today successfully underwent an elective laparoscopic surgical procedure to treat an abdominal hernia (para-umbilical hernia).
The Prime Minister's Medical Team head, Datuk Dr Asri Ranga Abdullah Ramaiah, said the procedure went smoothly under the care of a team of medical specialists.
He said Anwar is currently undergoing physiotherapy and remains under the close supervision of the medical specialist team.
"The monitoring is aimed at ensuring that the Prime Minister’s recovery process progresses well,” he said in a statement uploaded on Anwar’s official Facebook page today.
Earlier, the Prime Minister’s senior press secretary Tunku Nashrul Abaidah said Anwar was undergoing examinations and procedures prescribed by the medical specialist team and was expected to remain under observation for two days.
As such, he called on the public to pray for the Prime Minister’s examinations and procedures to proceed smoothly and for him to be blessed with lasting good health, enabling him to resume his duties as usual in the near future.
