SIBU, 7 Ogos (Bernama) -- A diesel wholesaling company was fined RM126,000 by the Sessions Court here yesterday on nine charges related to the misappropriation of subsidised diesel at a storage facility at Tanjung Engkilo jetty here two years ago.
The Sarawak Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN), in a statement today, said that Judge Musyiri Peet imposed the sentence after a representative of the company pleaded guilty to all nine charges under Section 21 of the Control of Supplies Act 1961.
“The company was charged with committing the offences on Aug 25, 2024, at premises at Tanjung Engkilo jetty in Sibu, for violating Regulation 3(1) of the Control of Supplies Regulations 1974.
“The court imposed the sentence after taking into account aggravating factors, including public interest, and the company has paid the fine,” Sarawak KPDN said.
