KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 4 (Bernama) -- Global transportation company Federal Express Corporation (FedEx) has launched its new Guangzhou-Sydney service route that will strengthen trade connectivity into Australia from key markets across Asia, including Malaysia.
In a statement today, FedEx said the company’s intra-Asia network has been enhanced with the new dedicated, non-stop freighter service between its Asia-Pacific hub in Guangzhou, China and Sydney, Australia.
“Operating five times weekly with Boeing 777 freighter aircraft, the new routing is expected to deliver up to one-day faster transit times for select shipments originating from major Asian markets to reach Australia in as little as two business days.
“These markets include Southern Mainland China, Hong Kong, Japan, South Korea, Malaysia, Thailand and the Philippines,” it said.
For Malaysian businesses, the company said the enhanced connectivity supports sectors such as electronics, manufacturing, healthcare and e-commerce that rely on fast and dependable cross-border logistics.
“The new connection enables businesses across the region to improve supply chain efficiency through improved speed-to-market and reduced inventory holding costs and increase capacity for heavy-weight freight and high-value goods.
“It also supports business-to-business growth in time-sensitive and high-value sectors,” said FedEx.
Meanwhile, FedEx Malaysia managing director Woon Tien Long said the new connection provides Malaysian businesses the infrastructure to pursue opportunities in Australia and across Asia-Pacific with greater confidence.
“Australia is already a meaningful trading partner for Malaysia, but the nature of that trade is evolving. We’re seeing more high-value, time-sensitive goods moving between the two markets.
“That shift demands a different kind of logistics capability, one built on predictability and speed rather than just capacity,” he added.
