ISTANBUL, Aug 2 (Bernama-Sputnik/RIA Novosti) -- Istanbul International Airport has set a European record for the number of passengers handled in a single day, Turkish Transport and Infrastructure Minister Abdulkadir Uraloglu said on Sunday, reported Sputnik/RIA Novosti.
“Istanbul Airport has set a European record. On August 1, the airport provided services to 289,260 passengers, setting a new record for this airport and for European airports,” the minister said on the social media platform X.
In 2025, Istanbul Airport handled more than 84.4 million passengers and is regularly ranked among the busiest airports in Europe.
