KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 2 (Bernama) -- National tennis player Daania Daniella Abdul Hazli enjoyed a perfect tune-up ahead of the Malaysia Games (SUKMA) later this month after capturing both the women's singles and doubles titles at the Kuala Lumpur Open Championships 2026 today.
Daania defeated fellow Malaysian Iman Syuhada Abdullah 6-0, 6-3 in the women's singles final, producing a composed display to wrap up the match in straight sets.
The victory came after she had also emerged champion in the women's doubles event yesterday with her partner Sharifah Elsa Wan Abdul Rahman, completing a memorable double triumph ahead of the national multi-sport games.
The Federal Territories representative said the tournament provided the ideal platform to assess her form before competing at SUKMA, where she is among the medal contenders.
"It was a good warm-up tournament. Most of the players here will also compete in SUKMA, so it was good preparation for me.
"I'm one of the medal prospects and I've qualified for SUKMA,” she said when met at the National Tennis Centre here today.
Meanwhile, Malaysia's number one men's professional tennis player Mitsuki Leong clinched his maiden Kuala Lumpur Open men's singles title after beating Darrshan Suresh Kumar 6-2, 6-2.
