KUWAIT CITY, July 31 (dpa) -- Kuwait said on Friday that it has intercepted Iranian drones targeting "vital" facilities in the latest such attack on the US-allied Gulf country.

The Kuwaiti military said it had detected the drones within the country's airspace since dawn and destroyed them.

The attacks targeted several vital facilities and military installations, the army said in an online statement.

Falling debris resulted in material damage without causing casualties, according to the statement.

Kuwait and other regional countries hosting US military facilities have repeatedly been targeted by Iranian attacks since the Middle East war erupted in late February.

Friday's reported attack comes a day after Kuwait said a worker was killed after an Iranian assault had targeted a building of a Chinese firm in the northern part of the country.
