MOSCOW, July 31 (Bernama-Sputnik/RIA Novosti) -- Indian cybercrime police have filed a criminal case against the director of Meta India (designated as an extremist organisation in Russia) after AI-generated videos featuring Prime Minister Narendra Modi were shared on social media, reported Sputnik/RIA Novosti quoting an India Today newspaper report on Friday.
The case against Arun Srinivas was filed days after police summoned the tech company's representatives to brief investigators on mechanisms for detecting and removing artificial intelligence-generated content.
Offensive fake videos featuring Modi began circulating during student protests.
The Cyber Crime Police are looking into the origins of the manipulated videos and measures taken by Meta to curb their propagation.
The investigation is reported to be at a preliminary stage.
