KUALA PILAH, July 30 (Bernama) -- Prime Minister's wife Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail today spent time visiting bedridden senior citizens and asnaf (eligible zakat recipients) families in the Tanjung Ipoh area here.
Accompanied by Pakatan Harapan (PH) candidate for the Seri Menanti state seat Kamarul Arifin Wafa, Dr Wan Azizah also visited 94-year-old Hasnah Mat Sil, who has been bedridden due to old age for the past three years.
She later visited 80-year-old Faridah Salleh, who has been bedridden due to a bone-related ailment, where she enquired about her well-being and presented assistance.
A resident, Azidah Aziz, 69, expressed her delight at having the opportunity to meet Dr Wan Azizah in person, having previously only seen her on television.
“This is the first time a national leader has come to my house. It feels like a dream. Alhamdulillah, she is very kind and caring,” she told Bernama.
The visits, held under the Ziarah Kasih programme, were also supported by PH's medical team, which conducted basic health screenings for the senior citizens visited.
Earlier, Dr Wan Azizah continued her campaign trail in Seremban to support PH candidate for the Sikamat state seat, Nor Azman Mohamad.
In a Facebook post, Dr Wan Azizah said the programme began with Ziarah Kasih visits to four homes in Desa Kiara, where she met residents facing health challenges and offered words of encouragement to their family members.
The programme was followed by an afternoon tea session with PH election workers, supporters and local residents to exchange views and strengthen the election campaign machinery.
