SEREMBAN, July 29 (Bernama) -- The Election Commission of Malaysia (EC) has announced that the early vote counting process for the 16th Negeri Sembilan state election which took place yesterday will only begin at 5 pm, this Saturday.

In a post on Facebook today, EC stated that an infographic poster showing Perikatan Nasional (PN) leading the early vote for the polls that has gone viral on social media is false and untrue.

“The early vote counting process for the Negeri Sembilan polls will only begin at 5 pm, August 1, 2026 after the completion of normal voting,” the post said.

The EC also advised the public to refer to the official announcement to obtain authentic information regarding the election results.

“Avoid spreading or believing any false information as it affects the smooth running of the election process,” the post said.

The early voting for the Negeri Sembilan state election yesterday involved a total of 22,339 voters with 16,467 people voting physically including 11,293 soldiers and spouses and 5,174 police and spouses while the rest voted by post.

A total of 91.06 per cent or 14,995 early voters have fulfilled their responsibilities, thus exceeding the 90 per cent target set by the EC.

This Saturday, a total of 867,151 ordinary voters will fulfill their responsibility to elect new elected representatives.
