Six Injured In Factory Fire In Kulai
JOHOR BAHRU, July 23 (Bernama) -- Six people were injured after a fire broke out at an anodising plant in the Sawit Baru Industrial Area in Kulai today, with two of the victims suffering burns.
Kulai Fire and Rescue Station operations commander PBK I Irwin Annur said an emergency call was received at 1.59 pm and 13 personnel from the Kulai and Bandar Baru Kulai stations were dispatched to the scene.
He said the fire involved two polishing machines, each about 80 per cent damaged, and triggered an explosion that caused part of the factory building to collapse.
Irwin said the factory's Emergency Response Team carried out initial firefighting efforts before firefighters brought the blaze under control.
He said two men in their 30s suffered burns of 50 per cent and 10 per cent, while another two men and two women sustained injuries.
One victim was taken to hospital by members of the public, while the remaining five received initial treatment by the Emergency Medical Rescue Services (EMRS) team before being sent to Kulai Hospital.
He said the firefighting operation ended at 3.09 pm.
