New RM30 Million Pahang Youth And Sports Complex To Open Next Month

KUANTAN, July 10 (Bernama) -- The newly constructed RM30 million Pahang Youth and Sports Complex (KOMBES) here is expected to open to the public next month.

Ministry of Youth and Sports (KBS) Secretary-General Datuk Rahimi Ismail said a trial run will be conducted at the complex to ensure all amenities and sporting facilities are ready before the official opening.

The state-of-the-art complex, which features a main hall, gymnasium, sports courts, a skatepark, and wall-climbing structures, was officiated by the Tengku Mahkota of Pahang Tengku Hassanal Ibrahim Alam Shah Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatudin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah here today.

“We hope this complex will be fully utilised, and the ministry will continue to improve the facilities provided from time to time,” Rahimi said, adding that public reservations and rental rates will be made accessible online via the official KBS portal after the trial period.

At the event, Tengku Hassanal also presented the Anugerah Perdana Belia Negara and the Anugerah Khas Belia Kerajaan Negeri Pahang 2026 in conjunction with the Pahang State Youth Festival.

Pahang Communications and Multimedia, Youth, Sports and Non-Governmental Organisations Committee Chairman Fadzli Mohamad Kamal thanked the federal ministry for the RM30 million funding allocation for the project.

"This facility has indeed been eagerly awaited by the youth in this state," he said.

Fadzli disclosed that KBS has also approved more than RM7 million to upgrade the Darul Makmur Stadium, which has seen a massive surge in public interest due to its nightly 'Stadium Run Culture' programme.

The upgrading works, managed by the Pahang Public Works Department (JKR), will go to tender at the end of the month and will focus on the stadium's floodlights, seating, wiring systems, and waterproofing works, he said.

Fadzli added that the ministry has also approved an allocation of RM500,000 for repair works to the motorcycle drag strip in Pekan to boost local motorsports development.
