‘Larian Cergas Parlimen’ Fun Run On July 25 To Promote Healthy Lifestyle - Johari

KUALA LUMPUR, July 9 (Bernama) -- Parliament, through the Malaysian Youth Parliament (PBMy) secretariat, will organise its inaugural ‘Larian Cergas Parlimen’ fun run on July 25 to promote a healthy lifestyle among members of parliament and the public.

Dewan Rakyat Speaker Tan Sri Datuk Dr Johari Abdul said the programme would also serve as a platform for members of parliament to champion a healthy lifestyle, particularly among young people.

He said the five-kilometre (5km) run would start from the Parliament building, pass several landmarks including Tugu Negara, and finish at Parliament.

“We want all members of the Dewan Negara and Dewan Rakyat to become influencers in promoting the importance of maintaining good health, not only among fellow lawmakers but also among young people and the wider community.

“In recent times, there has been worrying news about the health of elected representatives due to heavy work commitments and unhealthy lifestyles. Therefore, this programme is being organised to encourage healthy living,” he said at the launch of the programme at the Parliament building here today.

Johari said the run is also open to members of the public.

Those interested in taking part can obtain further information and register via https://getbiib.com/events/1689.

Meanwhile, Johari expressed hope that following its debut at Parliament, the programme would also be organised at state legislative assemblies nationwide.
