Halal Home Grown Champion Programme Generates RM187.91 Million Potential Sales From 2024–2026

KUALA LUMPUR, July 8 (Bernama) -- The Halal Home Grown Champion – Sourcing Partnership 2.0 programme, which was implemented from 2024 to 2026, has assisted 313 halal companies, 158 Bumiputera-owned firms and 52 women-owned businesses, with a total potential sales value of RM187.91 million.

The Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry (MITI) said that the Halal Home Grown Champion - Sourcing Partnership 2.0 is a targeted intervention programme to help local micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) grow.

“Additionally, the government, through the Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE), will organise the Malaysia International Halal Showcase (MIHAS) 2026, the world’s largest halal trade show, from Sept 23 to 26, 2026, at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC), Kuala Lumpur.

“A total of 2,400 exhibition booths will be provided, and more than 1,000 local MSMEs are expected to benefit from the business opportunities created by the event,” it said in a written reply to the Dewan Rakyat posted on Parliament’s website today.

The ministry was responding to Tan Sri Mahiaddin Mohd Yassin (PN–Pagoh) regarding specific strategies for 2026 to enter new markets, support local halal MSMEs, increase product value-added and reduce dependence on traditional markets.

MITI said Malaysia has a strong foundation to maintain its position as a global leader in the halal industry.

The ministry added that, with a globally trusted halal certification reputation, a comprehensive halal ecosystem, and the implementation of strategies focused on exploring new markets, empowering SMEs, and increasing product value-added, Malaysia is well positioned to further expand its share of the global halal market and boost the halal sector’s contribution to the national economy.
