Penang Targets Indian Market With Seven-City Sales Mission
GEORGE TOWN, July 8 (Bernama) -- The Penang Convention & Exhibition Bureau (PCEB) has launched its Sales Mission to India 2026 to strengthen Penang’s presence in one of its key international markets through a seven-city promotional tour targeting more than 400 potential buyers.
The mission began in Hyderabad on July 6 and continued in Bengaluru yesterday. It will proceed to Coimbatore today, Salem (July 10), Madurai (July 13), Tiruchirappalli (July 14) and Chennai (July 16), engaging more than 400 high-potential buyers, including travel agents, corporate clients, event planners and tourism stakeholders.
“India remains one of Penang’s six priority markets, with strong potential across business events, corporate meetings, incentive travels, weddings and leisure tourism.
“The cultural connection between India and Malaysia, together with Penang’s multicultural identity, heritage, food, hospitality and modern event facilities, continues to make Penang an attractive destination for the Indian market,” according to the PCEB statement today.
Meanwhile, PCEB chief executive officer Ashwin Gunasekeran said India has always been an important market for Penang, and the sales mission allows Penang to connect directly with key buyers, decision-makers and industry stakeholders across several high-potential cities.
He said the mission is also timely, coinciding with Visit Malaysia 2026, as stronger international engagement and destination promotion will be important to driving visitor arrivals and business opportunities.
“Through this sales mission conducted in collaboration with IndiGo Airline, PCEB aims to generate greater awareness of Penang’s offerings and encourage more Indian business events and travel groups to the state,” he said.
