MPI, PUSPAKOM Join Forces To Boost Road Safety Awareness

KUALA LUMPUR, July 8 (Bernama) -- The Malaysian Press Institute (MPI) and PUSPAKOM Sdn Bhd are collaborating to strengthen road safety awareness through media literacy and public communication campaigns to enhance public understanding of the importance of vehicle maintenance and safe driving practices.

In a joint statement, they said the collaboration also discussed the development of media literacy programmes on the latest technology in the vehicle inspection industry, including the use of artificial intelligence (AI) to improve inspection process efficiency and provide public exposure to vehicle maintenance and safety aspects.

PUSPAKOM chief executive officer Mahmood Razak Bahman said the collaboration had great potential to raise public awareness on the importance of road safety through the delivery of accurate and easy-to-understand information.

“This is a very good proposal. PUSPAKOM believes this collaboration can benefit the public and we hope its implementation can be expedited,” he said.

Meanwhile, MPI president Datuk Yong Soo Heong said MPI welcomed PUSPAKOM’s willingness to establish the strategic collaboration and would study the appropriate implementation methods, including the development of media literacy modules, training programmes, public communication campaigns and educational initiatives to enhance public understanding of road safety.

During the meeting at the MPI Training Centre in Cyberjaya, PUSPAKOM also presented a RM20,000 contribution to MPI in support of the Malaysian Press Night 2026, scheduled to be held on July 17 at The Majestic Hotel here, marking the third consecutive year the company has sponsored the event.

Mahmood said the contribution reflected PUSPAKOM’s commitment to supporting the development of professional journalism in Malaysia and appreciating the role of the media as a strategic partner in delivering accurate information to the public.

“Professional journalism plays an important role in helping the people make fact-based decisions based on credible information.

“For a long time, the media has been a trusted source of information and has played a role in shaping public understanding of various issues affecting daily lives, including vehicle and road safety,” he said.
