PH's Ayna Soraya Proposes Youth Fishing, Leisure Hub At Pantai Seri Menanti
MUAR, July 8 (Bernama) -- Pantai Seri Menanti's natural attractions could be transformed into a well-planned and vibrant Youth Fishing and Leisure Hub to promote youth engagement while stimulating the local economy, according to Pakatan Harapan (PH) candidate for the Sungai Balang state seat, Ayna Soraya Badaruddin.
She said the proposed development would create a dedicated space for healthy recreational activities while generating additional income opportunities for residents.
Ayna Soraya noted that, besides its scenic coastline, Pantai Seri Menanti has long been a popular recreational fishing destination, particularly among young people from across the Sungai Balang constituency.
"We could create a 'healing' spot where young people can gather and unwind. We could also introduce mini-stalls with a camping concept, allowing visitors to enjoy the atmosphere while taking in the beautiful scenery," she said in a video posted on her Facebook page today.
Noting the area's consistent popularity among visitors, Ayna Soraya proposed several improvements, including upgrading basic amenities and providing safer fishing platforms to enhance the experience for anglers and other visitors.
She also plans to establish dedicated commercial spaces for local youth entrepreneurs to encourage recreational business activities and create new economic opportunities.
In addition, she proposed organising regular zonal- or district-level fishing competitions to attract visitors from outside the constituency and further promote the area as a tourism destination.
Ayna Soraya said the comprehensive development plan would help position Pantai Seri Menanti as a distinctive domestic tourism attraction and a source of pride for the people of Sungai Balang.
In the 16th Johor State Election, Ayna Soraya is involved in a three-cornered contest against incumbent Sungai Balang assemblyman Selamat Takim of Barisan Nasional (BN) and Perikatan Nasional (PN) candidate Muhammad Amin Sailan.
Overall, 172 candidates are contesting 56 state seats in the 16th Johor State Election, with 2,727,926 registered voters set to cast their ballots this Saturday.
