Paloh PH Candidate Hospitalised For Slipped Disc Treatment
KLUANG, July 7 (Bernama) -- Pakatan Harapan (PH) candidate for the Paloh state assembly seat, Dr. A. Ruban, was admitted to a hospital in Batu Pahat at noon today due to health complications arising from a slipped disc.
His campaign manager, Abdul Majid Abd Aziz, confirmed the matter when contacted by Bernama and informed that Dr. Ruban had to receive treatment after experiencing pain that had hindered his movement since this morning.
Abdul Majid said Dr. Ruban has a history of spinal issues and had undergone surgery previously, but the pain recurred, believed to be due to the strenuous campaign schedule for the state polls.
"He has been doing a lot of walkabouts in the field. His health was affected, possibly due to fatigue and a tight schedule, but he is currently receiving treatment at the hospital.
"However, his condition is reported to be not critical. He may be discharged within a day or two," he said.
Commenting on the continuity of the campaign, Abdul Majid assured that the PH machinery for the Paloh seat would continue to actively engage with the community on the ground.
"We will ensure that Dr. Ruban's message and manifesto reach the voters, even though he is unable to be on the ground for the time being," he said.
The Paloh seat is witnessing a four-cornered contest between Dr. Ruban, Perikatan Nasional (PN) candidate D. Jeevakumar, independent candidate G. Kamaleswaren, and the seat’s incumbent, Barisan Nasional (BN) candidate Lee Ting Han.
The Johor state election will take place on July 11, while early voting was conducted today.
