Johor Polls: KTMB Offers Additonal 7,464 ETS Train Tickets With 20 Pct Discount
KUALA LUMPUR, July 7 (Bernama) -- Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTMB) is offering 7,464 additional seats for the southern sector Electric Train Service (ETS) in conjunction with the Johor state election this weekend.
KTMB in a statement today announced that the additional ETS train service offering involves the JB Sentral - Gemas - JB Sentral and KL Sentral - JB Sentral - KL Sentral routes to accommodate travel demand from voters returning to their hometowns.
The latest initiative was made following high demand from the public after the additional train tickets launched on June 19 were completely sold out.
“For this phase, KTMB is adding four additional train services for the KL Sentral - JB Sentral - KL Sentral route and four additional train services for the JB Sentral - Gemas - JB Sentral route.
“This additional train series will operate for three days starting from July 10 to 12 with a capacity of 2,488 seats per day,” the statement said.
KTMB also announced that the ticket sales for the JB Sentral - Gemas - JB Sentral route have already opened at 3.00 pm today while ticket sales for the ETS KL Sentral - JB Sentral - KL Sentral route will open tomorrow (Wednesday) at 9.00 am.
To encourage the use of rail transport, KTMB is also offering promotional fares with a 20 per cent discount for all additional ETS train routes during the three-day operation period.
The public, especially voters, are advised to plan their journeys and make advance cashless ticket purchases via the KITS Style application, KTMB’s official website or via kiosk machines at selected stations.
Passengers are also advised to arrive at the station at least 30 minutes earlier as the entrance to the train platform will close five minutes before the train departure time.
Any further enquiries can be made by contacting the KTMB Call Centre at 03-9779 1200 or visit the agency's official social media platforms.
