Woman Trapped Under Moving Car In Ipoh

IPOH, July 5 (Bernama) -- A woman was injured after her leg was trapped under a car that was said to have moved suddenly while she was opening the gate of her house in Dataran Pengkalan Barat 2, Taman Temara here this afternoon.

Perak Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) assistant director of operations Sabarodzi Nor Ahmad said they received an emergency call regarding the incident at 3.39 pm before a team from the Pasir Puteh Fire and Rescue Station (BBP) rushed to the location.

"The team arrived at the scene at 3.43 pm and found a 38-year-old woman with her leg trapped under a Proton Wira car.

"Preliminary investigations found that the victim was believed to have been opening the gate to her house when the vehicle, with its engine running, moved suddenly, causing the victim to fall and get trapped under the vehicle," he said in a statement today.

Sabarodzi said that the bystanders at the location tried to rescue the victim but were unsuccessful.

He said the head of the operation conducted an initial assessment at the location according to the SAVER (Systematic Approach to Victim Entrapment Rescue) concept before the firefighters used special equipment such as the Air Lifting Bag and Hydraulic Cutter to lift the vehicle and extricate the victim.

"The victim was successfully extricated and found to have sustained injuries to her leg before being handed over to the Ministry of Health (MOH) team for further treatment," he said, adding that the operation was completed at 4.16 pm.
