Pahang Immigration Detains 47 Foreign Nationals In Cameron Highlands Crackdown
KUANTAN, July 3 (Bernama) -- The Pahang Immigration Department (JIM) detained 47 foreign nationals of various nationalities in an enforcement operation at a construction site in Cameron Highlands on Wednesday.
In a Facebook post today, Pahang JIM said the operation was carried out following intelligence and public complaints regarding the presence of foreign nationals suspected of residing or working in the country illegally.
According to the post, 57 individuals were inspected during the operation for suspected offences under the Immigration Act 1959/63.
Of the total, 47 have been remanded for 14 days under Section 51(5)(b) of the Immigration Act 1959/63, and they were sent to the Kemayan Immigration Depot for further investigations.
The operation involved 17 enforcement officers from Pahang JIM and 12 officers from the Pahang State Enforcement Unit (UPNP).
“Members of the public are urged to channel information on the presence of illegal immigrants in their localities to assist authorities in addressing the issue.
“Firm legal action without compromise will be taken against illegal immigrants as well as any parties found to be employing or harbouring them,” it said.
