Malaysia Pledges US$1 Million To UNRWA
KUALA LUMPUR, July 1 (Bernama) -- Malaysia has pledged a US$1 million (US$1=RM4.07) contribution to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) at the UNRWA Pledging Conference in New York on Tuesday.
The Foreign Ministry, in a statement on Wednesday, said Malaysia continues to strongly support UNRWA and its critical role in delivering life-saving humanitarian assistance, education, healthcare, and protection services to Palestine refugees.
“The contribution will be disbursed annually in the amount of US$200,000 from 2026 to 2030. This effort is a manifestation of the values of Trust and Compassion of the Malaysia MADANI framework,” it said.
Malaysia will continue to support UNRWA so that it is able to fulfil its mandate to the Palestinian people, the statement added.
